Common Name The Long-Spear-Shaped Prescottia

Flower Size

Found in Minas Gerais, Rio de Janiero, Sao Paulo and Parana' states of Brazil as a small sized, cool to cold growing, epiphyte or rarely humus loving terrestrial with tuberous roots giving rise to a short stem carrying a rosette of 2 to 5, basal, brilliant dark green, somewhat membraneous, lanceolate, acute, attenuate below into the pseudopetiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on a terminal, erect, peduncle 4 to 8" [10 to 20 cm,] long, provided with 3 to 4, tightly clasping sheathing bracts, rachis 1.2 to 3.2" [3 to 8 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, setiform-acuminate, glabrous, pale, membraneous, slightly longer than the ovary floral bracts
