Common Name The Nerved Prescottia [refers to the prominent nerves of the leaf]
Flower Size
Found in Alta Verapaz department of Guatemala in primary forests at elevations around 300 meters as a small sized, hot growing terrestrial with clear green, prominently nerved on the adaxial side, obliquely cordate, oval, acute-acuminate apically, canaliculate below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later spring on a terminal, erect, 28" [70 cm] long overall, peduncle provided with a few sterile, obliquely linear, acuminate sheathing bracts, densely many flowered inflorescence with ovate-rhombic, acuminate, more than twice as long as the ovary floral bracts.
"Similar to Prescottia stachyodes but differs in the coriaceous, obliquely cordate, matte, clear green, prominently nerved leaves versus fleshy, elliptic, dark green, very shiny, without visible nerved leaves. P nervosa has a oval to obliquely acute lip with prominent auriculate basal lobes versus an orbicular, rounded at the apex, with basal lobes reduced to thickened projections not reaching the size of auricules and oval-rhombic floral bracts versus elliptical."
