Found in Dominican Republic and Haiti in cactus thorn scrub, semi-arid pine woods and broadleafed forests at elevations of sea level to 1100 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with pyriform, deeply ribbed pseudobulbs carrying 2 to 4, coriaceous, stiff, erect, linear to narrowly elliptic-lanceolate, truncate, smooth margins, involute leaves that blooms in the spring, summer and fall on a terminal, erect, stiff, partially enveloped by tubular scarious sheaths, to 60" [150 cm] long, successively many flowered inflorescence with scarious, ovate, acuminate floral bracts
