Found in New Zealand in lowland to montane scrub and well lit forests as a miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with a slender stem carrying on a non-flowering plant, basal, smooth to lightly embossed, shovel-shaped leaves held in a basal rosette and in a flowering plant, 4 to 5 lanceolate leaves that blooms in the fall through spring on an erect, single flowered inflorescence
