Common Name The Stiff Pterostylis - In Australia Northern Greenhood

Found in Queensland Australia in moist protected sites in dry open woodlands at bases of grass trees or among boulders along creeks and streams at elevations of 800 to 1250 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial with a basal rosette of small, elliptic, subacute, reticulate, prominent central vein, gradually narrowing below into the short, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall and early winter on an erect, 8" [20 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with 2, distant, acuminate, obtuse, basally clasping bracts and a flower that is easily identified by the curved labellum that tapers to a point and has fine, ciliate hairs on the margins.
