Common Name Gomez' Gomesa [Brazilian plant collector 1800's]

Found in Espirito Santo, Rio de Janiero, Sao Paulo, Parana', Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul states of Brazil in the coastal mountains in low scrub and on upper branches of large trees in primary forests as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with clustered, smooth, laterally compressed, light green pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several imbricating, leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying, two, apical, linear-lanceolate, acute, conduplicate end to end but tapers towards the elongate, petiolate base and blooms in the summer on an axillary, to 5" [to 12.5 cm] long, stiff inflorescence with 10 to 20, sweetly fragrant flowers all held on one side of the inflorescence.
