Found in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Costa Rica at elevations around 2300 meters as a medium sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial or lithophyte with an erect stem carrying 1 to 2, green, elliptic, acute, gradually narrowing below into the purple spotted, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter and early spring on an erect, terminal, long, slender, several to many flowered inflorescence carrying diurnally fragrant flowers.
There is a lot of variability in the species as can be seen between the 2 photos above. .
