Found in Colombia and Venezuela at elevations of 30 to 200 meters as a large sized, hot growing epiphyte or lithophyte on rocks near rivers with widely fusiform pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several, acute, imbricate, evanescent, scarious sheaths and carrying 2, apical, coriaceous, oblong-elliptic, rounded apically, attenuate into the base leaves that blooms in the winter on a terminal, racemose, 2' [60 cm] long, several to many flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb
