Common Name or Meaning The Rosy Schomburgkia
Flower Size 1.6" [4 cm]
Found in Magdalena department of Colombia and Venezuela at elevations of 30 to 1600 meters as a large sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte or lithophyte on rocks near rivers with widely fusiform pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several, acute, imbricate, evanescent, scarious sheaths and carrying 2, apical, coriaceous, oblong-elliptic, rounded apically, attenuate into the base leaves that blooms in the winter on a terminal, racemose, 2' [60 cm] long, several to many flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb
Similar to Schomburgkia gloriosa but is distinguished by the larger lip 1.2 x .72 vs .8 x .48" [30 x 18 vs 20 x 12 mm], which is three lobed above the middle vs obscuely three lobed near the middle." Szlatchetko & Kolanowska 2023
