Common Name The Fringed Sobralia
Flower Size 3" [7.5 cm]
A medium to large sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial species found in Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela and Brazil in wet montane forests, often along road cuts, from 600 to 2100 meters with erect, cane-like stems that are leafy towards the apex with elliptic-lanceolate, plicate, attenuate, acuminate, coriaceous, basally clasping leaves that blooms on a short, sessile, terminal, few flowered inflorescence that has one flower open at a time and occurs in spring and summer with 3" heavily fragrant flowers.
The third photo by Patricia Harding is probably not S fimbriata.
