Part shadeCool Spring

Common Name The President Sophronitis [refers to its location Presidente Kubitschek, a town in Minas Gerais]

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in Minas Gerais Brazil near Presidente Kubitschek at elevations of 1000 to 1300 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing, caespitose, rupicolous lithophyte with obclavate pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, elliptical-lanceolate, recurved, conduplicate, dorsally acute, rigid, fleshy leaf that blooms in the spring in Brazil on a terminal, erect, 4 to 5.2" [10 to 13 cm] long, few flowered inflorescence arising through a linear-truncated, oblique spathe carrying resupinate flowers without a fragrance.

Within my framework this species would fit best within Laelia but till now it has not been described as such.

Synonyms Cattleya presidentensis (Campacci) Van den Berg 2008; Hoffmannseggella presidentensis Campacci 2005
