Common Name Kimball's Spathoglottis [American Orchid Enthusiast late 1800's]

Flower Size 3" [7.5 cm]

Found only in Borneo at elevations of sealevel to 1500 meters in lower hill forests and among rocks along rivers as a medium sized, cool to hot growing terrestrial with small, compact, ovoid pseudobulbs enveloped completely by several leafless, distichous sheaths and carrying, 6, plicate, narrowly linear-lanceolate, long acuminate, erect then arching leaves and blooms in the spring on a basal, 2' [60 cm] long, successively several flowered inflorescence with broadly ovate-elliptic, obtuse, strongly concave-cymbiform, olive-green, stained red floral bracts carrying a single to few flowers open at a time.
