Found in northeastern India, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hunan, Jianxi, Sichuan, Yunnan and Zhejiang provinces of China, Hong Kong, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam in open woodlands and on grassy slopes, in semi-deciduous and deciduous dry lowland forests and savana-like woodlands at elevations of 300 to 2000 meters as a medium sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with flattened pseudobulbs carrying to 3, plicate, linear leaves that blooms on a basal, pubescent, to 20" [50 cm] long, few to several [2 to 8] flowered inflorescence occuring in the summer through winter.
