Common Name The Herrenhauser Stanhopea [A garden in Hannover Germany]

Found in Colombia at elevations of 400 to 800 meters as a medium sized, hot growing natural hybrid in between S reichenbachiana and S. tricornis. The plant consists of ovate, strongly ribbed and furrowed with age pseudobulbs carrying a single, erect, plicate, coarse, leathery, lanceolate, acute, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms on a basal, pendent, to 6" [15 cm] long, loosely 2 to 3 flowered inflorescence enveloped by large, spread, broadly triangular, acute floral bracts and carrying fragrant flowers.
