Found in Cauca Colombia at elevations around 2500 to 3000 meters as a small sized, cold growing epiphyte with erect, fasciculate, stout ramicauls enveloped by a loose tubular sheath near the middle and 2 to 3 imbricating sheaths about the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, pale purple beneath, elliptical-oblong, subacute, cuneate below into the conduplicate, sessile base leaf that blooms on 1 to 2, erect, slender, congested, more or less distichous, 2 to 3.2" [15 to 21 cm] long including the 1.6" [4 cm] long peduncle, simultaenously many flowered inflorescence arising through a broad spathe from the apex of the ramicaul with infundibular floral bracts.
