Found in Ecuador at elevations around 2000 to 2700 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with a short, stout rhizome giving rise to small flattened pseudobulbs enveloped by 2 to 3 leaves and carrying a single, apical, thick, elliptic-oblong, obtuse, dehiscent at the base leaf that blooms on a triangular, peduncle, 2.4 to 3.2" [6 to 8 cm] long, rachis short, few flowered inflorescence with a navicular, acute floral bracts
