Common Name The Tessellated Telipogon

Found in Ecuador and Peru in upper montane cloud forests at elevations of 1800 to 3000 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte that dies back after blooming and takes a rest until the next growth season so do not throw away until you are sure that it is dead, with a short stem that branches basally enveloped completely by distichous, basally imbricating, elliptic-oblong, conduplicate below into the base leaves and blooms on a compressed, 1 1/2" [3.75 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with a large acuminate sheath occuring in the spring through summer. This species is highly variable in flower shape and color, amount of veins and reticulation and if the color is bright or not, but the callus and the column do not vary between clones.
