Found in Alta Verapaz province of Guatemala in primary tropical forests at elevatyions around 500 meters as a miniature sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with ovoid-pyriform pseudobulbs enveloped basally by papyraceous, brown, very distant bracts and carrying 1 to 2, plicate, thin leaves that blooms in the fall on a basal, peduncle 1.2" [3 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence.
Very similar to T pickiana but differs in the smaller habit, the lip with a bilobed apex and different tepals.
