Common Name Wagener's Teuscheria [German Orchid Collector in South America 1800's]

Flower Size .8" [2 cm]

Found in Venezuela and Ecuador in cloud forests at elevations of 1200 to 1800 meters as a miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte with ovoid pseudobulbs enveloped basally in youth by imbricate sheaths becoming fibrous with age and carrying a thin, single, apical, plicate, heavily veined, acute, gradually narrowing below into the terete, elongate petiolate base leaf with the petiole completely covered by a chartaceous sheath [this is a major defining point to the genus] that becomes fibrous with age and blooms in the spring and summer on a basal, pendulous, 4" [10 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with well spaceed, triangular, acute bracts and arising on a mature pseudobulb and carrying a resupinate flower.
