Found on Mindanao in the Philippines forests at elevations around 1600 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with upright to semi-pendulous, flatttened, glabrous stems enveloped by cataphyls and carrying semi-terete,linear-lanceolate, curved, sessile, emarginate apex leaves that blooms in the late fall on an upright, cylindrical, axillary, peduncle terete, erect, glabrous, 1 to 1.6" [2.5 to 4 cm] long, provided with three, triangular, short bracts, rachis to .72" [1.8 cm] long, at each internode, successively to 3 flowered inflorescence with aristate, whorled, stout, glabrous floral bracts

"Thrixspermum fernandeziae is similar to Thrixspermum merguense (Hk.f.) Ktze., but differs in the shape and size of the plant, particularly the leaves, the presence of 2 fringed appendages with bulbous tips from both sides of the midlobe margins, bicornuate callus and a tuft of orange papillae with bulbous tips at the base of the midlobe."
