Found in penninsular Malaysia and Sumatra in primary forests at elevations of 100 to 860 meters a small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte in partially logged primary forests on thinly mossy small branches of small to medium sized river side trees with a spreading stem enveloped by compresssed, green, often stained maroon sheaths and carrying spreading to descending, ligulate, leathery, green, sometimes red to maroon marked in youth, obtuse, unequally bilobed leaves that blooms in the spring and fall from the rhizome between the pseudobulbs, to 6" [15 cm] long, elongating, successively several flowered inflorescence with persistent, deflexed with age, overlapping bracts and carrying close set flowers
