Found in La Paz department of Bolivia in cloud forests at elevations around 2800 to 3400 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with ascending, sometimes prolific ramicauls enveloped by 4 to 9, microscopically ciliate, lepanthiform sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, oblong-lanceolate, apiculate, shortly cuneate below into the sulcate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a racemose, peduncle .08 to .48" [.2 to 1.2 cm] long, ascending, .68 to 2.28" [1.7 to 5.7 cm] long overall, lax, simultaneously 5 to 10 flowered inflorescence with infundibuliform, oblique, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.

"Trichosalpinx giovi-mendietae is similar to T. dirhamphis (Luer) Luer but differs in having a trilobulate labellum with patents and rounded lateral lobes, the base of the labellum with a pair of crests ending in small antrorse tooth and a column with ligulate clinandrium." I Jimenez 2015
