Common Name The Tiger-Like Trichocentrum
Flower Size 1.6 to 2 1/4" [4 to 6 cm]
A warm to hot growing, miniature sized, caespitose epiphyte, from Ecuador and northern Peru in seasonally dry forests on the western slopes of the Andes at elevations of sea level to 700 meters, with elliptic, obtuse, stiffly coriaceous, gradually narrows below into the conduplicate base leaves with a basal, tubular, scarious bract that requires a wet spring and dryer winter rest to set the buds, occuring in the spring and summer on a short to 3" [7.5 cm] long, lateral, laxly pendant, 1 to 2 flowered inflorescence with acute, lanceolate bracts and carrying fragrant lily of the valley scented flowers. It also likes to have bright light if not some direct sun.
