Part shade Hotto Warm Winter Spring Summer

Common Name The Orbicular Trichosalpinx [refers to the leaf's shape]

Flower Size .01" [2.5 mm]

Found from Nicaragua , Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Venezuela in wet montane cloud forests at elevations of 180 to 1500 meters as a miniature sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 5 coarsly ciliate, lepanthiform sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, ovate to broadly elliptic, subacute to obtuse leaf that is abruptly contracted below to the petiole and has the underside suffused with purple that blooms in the winter, spring or summer from near the apex of the ramicaul, carried behind the leaf, peduncle filiform, .2" [5 mm] long, .4" [1 cm] long overall, congested fascile of a few sussessively opening flowers.

Related to T acestrochila but it has narrowly ovate, apically narrowly acuminate petals and the narrowly ovate lip with the margins of the long-acuminate apex revolute.

Vegetatively similar to T rotundata which is merely a large, local variation with orbicular, convex leaves but most of the plants from the eastern part of the distribution across northern South America of T orbicularis have elliptical leaves and smaller flowers.
