Common Name Pringle's Trichosalpinx [American Orchid Discoverer late 1900's]

Chiapas Mx., 2195m elev, between Delores & Teopisca,

Found in Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador in oak, pine, juniper forest at elevations of 2000 to 3000 meters, as a miniature sized, cold growing, small, creeping, caespitose epiphyte with a slender ramicaul envelopd by lepanthiform sheaths and carrying a single, apical, coriaceous, fleshy, oblanceolate to elliptic, shortly petiolate, obtuse to acute, tridenticulate leaf that blooms at any time of the year on a 2.4" [6 cm] long, subdense, successively several flowered inflorescence with infundibuliform-pointed, membraneous floral bracts carrying the small, bilabiate flowers held well above the leaf and 3 to 5 simultaneously open flowers at a time.

"Distinguished by the repent habit and an inflorescence that exceeds the leaf in length. The sepals are glabrous, the minute petals are serrulate and the lip is three-lobed with the lobes below the middle, erect, obtuse and oblique. A minute pair of basal lobes flank the thin hinge to the column foot." Luer 1997
