Found in central Madagascar in peaty and marshy soils within marshes at elevations of 1500 to 2400 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with an erect stem enveloped basally by 3 to 4 sheaths and carrying a single linear-lanceolate, acute leaf at mid stem that blooms in the early summer on an erect, terminal, to 3.6" [9 cm] long, several to many flowered inflorescence
