Found in Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Surinam, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina and Paraguay in wet montane forests at elevations of 250 to 750 meter as a leafless, small sized, hot to warm growing, mycoheterotrophic terrestrial with a hairy stem covered with very small scales and blooms in the late winter and spring on an erect, terminal, racemose, many flowered inflorescence
