Found in Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago, French Guiana, Surinam, Guyana, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil as a medium sized, hot to warm growing, caespitose epiphytic orchid occurring in lowland rainforest and riverine areas at altitudes of 200 to 1000 meters with nearly spherical, smooth pseudobulbs subtended by evanescent, nonfoliaceous sheaths and has 2 apical, obovate, obtuse, thick, grey-green, gradually narrowing below into the conduplicate petiolate base leaves that are heavily veined on the underside and blooms in the winter and spring on a basal, 3/4" [2 cm] long, densely 8 to 10 flowered, bracteate, subcapitate racemose inflorescence, arising on newly maturing and mature pseudobulb, that is shorter than the pseudobulb and has foul smelling, carrion fly attracting, stench akin to rotting meat floowers. Can't wait to go get one, yum.

CAUTION!!! The first and second photo are correct for Dunsterville, Foldats and Christenson. The third and fourth photo are correct for Dodson, COS and Steyermark. As to which of the 2 is the real X colleyi, I cannot say.
