Found in Ecuador and Peru as a medium sized epiphyte with oblong-ovoid, 5 to 8 grooved pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, plicate, oblong, acute, gradually cuneate below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, robust, 6" [15 cm] long, 20 to 24 flowered, racemose inflorescence with lanceolate, long-acuminate, black punctulate floral bracts and carrying flowers that are large for the genus.
