Common Name Alvaro's Zootrophion [Colombian orchid enthusiast and collector of species current]

Flower Size .8" [2 cm] long

Found in Colombia and Ecuador at elevations of 400 to 600 meters as a miniature sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with an erect ramicaul enveloped completely by 3 to 4, tubular, inflated, acuminate, spotted sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, obtuse, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a short, single flowered inflorescence.
