Found in Brazil in the southeast Atlantic forest at elevations of 700 to 1000 meters in shady and humid locations as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte or terrestrial with erect, sheathed ramicauls carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, dark green, ovate, acute leaf that blooms in the summer on 2 to 3 flowered inflorescence arising below the leaf..
