Flower Size less than 1/2" [1.5 cm]

Found in the old world in Turkmenistan, Tazikistan, Uzbeckistan, Afghanistan, Iran, China, western Himalayas, Pakistan, Assam, India, Sri Lanka, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Myanamar, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Moluccas, Sulawesi, Philippines, New Guinea, Taiwan, the Ryukyus and Japan and has been introduced to south Florida, Mexico and south through the Americas as well as Saudia Arabia as a mini-miniature to small sized, cool to hot growing terrestrial of open grasslands with a creeping, fleshy rhizome carrying erect, leafy pale brown stems carrying suberect to erect, conduplicate, linear-tapering, acute, pinkish-buff leaves articulated below to the basal leaf sheaths that blooms in the winter and early spring on a terminal, 5/8" to 1 4/5" [1.5 to 4.5 cm] long, densly 2 to many flowered, cylindrical rachis with lanceolate, acuminate, papery, reddish brown, longer than the flowers floral bracts.
