Found in Espirito Santo state of Brazil in montane rainforests at elevations around 300 to 400 meters as a large sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with oblong-ovate, acute pseudobulbs enveloped by deciduous sheaths and carrying 2, apical, submembraneous, narrowly lanceolate, 1 veined leaves that blooms in the later summer and earlier fall on a basal, 32 to 36" [80 to 90 cm] long, few flowered inflorescence with obovate, acuminate floral bracts.
