Found in Bahia state of Brazil in montane rainforests at elevations of 600 to 700 meters as a small to medium sized, warm growing, scandent epiphyte with oblong-ovate, acute pseudobulbs enveloped by scarious, deciduous sheaths and carrying 2, apical, submembraneous, narrowly lanceolate leaves that blooms in the later summer and earlier fall on a basal, 6 to 12" [15 to 30 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence with large, obovate, acuminate floral bracts enveloping almost all the pedicel and ovary.
