Found in Shaanxi, southern Gansu, western Sichuan, northwestern Yunnan and southeastern Xizang provinces of China in thickets, grasslands and rocky meadows at elevations of 2300 to 4100 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with ovoid tubers giving rise to an erect, slender, stem provided with 1 to 2, tubular, basal sheaths and carrying a single, erect to porrect, ovate, spathulate to narrowly elliptic, acute to obtuse leaf held below the middle that blooms in the summer on a terminal, erect, peduncle ebracteate, single flowered, peduncle ebracteate, 2 to 3.2" [5 to 8 cm] long, inflorescence with a linear-lanceolate, usually longer than the ovary, acute floral bract
