Common Name or Meaning The Cordillera de Condor Andinia

Found in Zamora Chinchipe province of Ecuador in primary cloud forests on thin branches in lichens and moss at elevations around 1680 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with an abbbrviated rhizome giving rise to a short stem enveloped by acuminate sheaths and carrying an olive green, pendent, entire, orbicular, mucronate leaf generally 12 to 18 forming 3 ranks in mature plants, that blooms in the spring, and fall on a short, single flowered inflorescence enveloped by a deltiform, truncate, acute bract and carrying a hanging, partly opening, pale yellow flower.
"Similar to Andinia lappacea but is distinguished by the flower not spreasing as freely witha concave rather than convex dorsal sepal. The flowers of the new species are only known to be yellow while those of A lappacea range from yellow to orange. The lip also differs in its entire apex rather than cleft as in A lappacea. The new specis is from the Amazonian area in the east and A lappacea is found in northwestern Ecuador. H. Medina I Potilla & J.Portilla 2022
