Common Name Gardner's Barbosella [English Botanist and Collector in Brazil early 1900's]

Found in Sao Paulo, Espirito Santo and Rio de Janiero States of Brazil in very wet, shady forests around swamps, streams and rivers at elevations of 1000 to 1400 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing long-repent epiphyte with an erect ramicaul carrying a single, apical, ovate, acute leaf that blooms in the later summer on an erect, stiff, 1.2" [3 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with thin, oblique, enveloping the pedicel floral bract.
The flowers are characterized by the panduriform lip dilated by a broadly rounded larteral lobe from above the middle. Theobtuse apex is abruptly acuminate into a pointed tip. The minute base is articulate with the tip of the column foot." Luer 2000
