Common Name The Archila Family Barkeria

Flower Size .8" [2 cm]

Found in Guatemala in wet montane forests at elevations around 1600 meters as a medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect, branching near the base stems enveloped by leafless sheaths and carrying 2, at the apex, oblong, acute leaves that blooms in the later spring on a terminal, arcuate to pendent, to 20" [50 cm] long, successively single rarely 2 flowered inflorescence.

Often cited as a synonym of B spectabilis but as is quite obvious it is not. The photo above by Fredy Archila is the type photo.
