Common Name Halbinger's Barkeria [Amatuer Mexican Botanist and Orchid Enthusiast 1900's]

Flower Size 2 1/4" [4.5 cm]

Found in Mexico in the state of Oaxaca at elevations around 1600 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing lithophyte that blooms on a 6" [15 cm] long, many flowered, racemose inflorescence occuring in the spring. Even though it is a lithophyte it does well mounted to wood and given hot to cool conditions with bright light and a reduction of fertilizer and water in the winter.

Often cited as a synonymn of Barkeria melanocaulon but is definitely a seperate species.
