Common Name The Beautiful Batemannia

Flower Size 1.2" [3 mm]

Found in Venezuela, Surinam and Brazil in hot forests at elevations around 100 to 300 meters as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte with lightly compressed, clustered, moderately to strongly quadrate pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, mid nerve finely sulcate, carinate, elliptic, acute leaf that blooms in the spring on a basal, 2" [5 cm] long, few flowered inflorescence arising on a newly developing pseudobulb with light green, large, inflated floral bracts and carrying fragrant flowers that smell of sweet mashed stink bug.

CAUTION This species and B colleyii are often confused, I hope that I have them correct here.
