Found in Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica at elevations around 1800 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial with basal, elliptic, subacuminate, gradually narrowing below into the canaliculate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, terminal, glabrous below pubescent above, somewhat purple, to 10" [25 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence
