Found in south central Madagascar at elevations of 750 to 1200 meters as a large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with an erect stem carrying in the lower half, 5 to 6, narrowly ligulate to oblanceolate, acuminate-obtuse, leaves and 4 to 6, lanceolate-acuminate sheaths above that blooms in the winter and earlier spring on an erect, [30 to 37.5 cm] long, rachis to 8" [20 cm] long, cylindrical, elongated, densely many flowered inflorescence with narrowly acuminate, slightly longer than the flowers floral bracts
