Found in eastern and southern Madagascar in humid bare spots at elevations of sea level to 500 meters as a medium sized, hot growing terrestrial with an erect stem carrying 3 to 4, in the lower half, linear leaves with 3 to 4, narrow sheaths above that blooms in the late fall and early winter on an erect, rachis 2 to 4" [5 to 10 cm] long, very densely many flowered inflorescence carrying narrow, very acute floral bracts
