Found in Reunion as a small to medium sized terrestrial with a single, basal, linear, obtuse, basally clasping leaf that blooms in the winter on a terminal, erect, brown, grooved, several flowered inflorescence with much shorter than the swollen, grooved ovary, floral bracts.
