Common Name or Meaning Khang's Bidoupia [Vietnamese discoverer of species current]

Flower Size .24 to 1/2" [.6 to 1.2 cm] wide

Found in northern Vietnam in primary broad-leaved and coniferous evergreen humid forests on sandstone and shale, commonly in rich soils within shady places on steep slopes at elevations of 1100 to 2000 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect, dull brownish pink, fleshy stem carrying 3 to 5, basal, closely spaced, spirally arranged, narrowly ovete to ovate, slightly oblique, irregularily undulate along the margins, 1 main veined, acute, dark velvety olive brown with a white median stripe above, sdull glossy pale pink-brownish beneath, shortly petioalte base leaves that blooms in the on an erect, straight, shortly soft hairy, peduncle with 2 to 3, sterile, tubular, broadly lanceolate, obtuse bracts, 7.2 to 11.2" [18 to 28 cm] long overall, rachis 2 to 4" [5 to 10 cm] long, spirally arranged, 12 to 20 flowered inflorescence with reddish brown, outside sparsely hairy, triangular broadly lanceolate, tubular-convulolute, obtuse, scarious, entire, shorter to as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying sessile, widely opening flowers.
