Common Name The Black Column Foot Bifrenaria

Found in Minas Gerais, Rio de Janiero and Sao Paulo states of Brazil in montane rainforests at elevations of 500 to 1000 meters as a miniature to small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with conic-tetragon, slightly compressed pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, plicate, oblong-lanceolate, acuminate leaves that blooms in the fall on a basal, 1.4 to 2" [4 to 5 cm] long, 1 to few flowered inflorescence with obovate-lanceolate, envolute, acuminate floral bracts.

CAUTION !!! This species is said by Kew to be a synonym of B racemosa but if I have this determination correct here then they are quite different, so I have left them separate pending better references.
