Found in Madagascar in prairies, seepages and steep slopes at elevations of 1400 to 2000 meters as a small sized, stout, cool growing terrestrial with a tall stem carrying many cauline, oval-acuminate leaves and blooms in the late spring and summer on a semi-dense, 3 to 6" [7.5 to 15 cm] long, thick inflorescence with oval-acuminate bracts.
