Found in southern Cape Province South Africa at elevations of 150 to 1580 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with tubers in clusters of up to 10, giving rise to a slender to fairly robust stem carrying cauline, closely imbricate, lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, acute, glabrous, green leaves that blooms after fires in the fall and early winter on an erect, 5.2" [13 cm] long, lax to densely many flowered inflorescence
