Found in Sabah Borneo and the Philippines in hill forests low down on tree trunks in deeper shade at elevations around 500 meters as a small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with a stout, pendulous stem enveloped by leaf bases and carrying 6 to 7, distichous, broadly oblong-ligulate, coriaceous, obtuse, unequally bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the winter on a slender, wiry, olive green to purple red, to 8" [to 20 cm] long, successively many flowered, pendant inflorescence with several, triangular-ovate, sterile bracts and triangular-ovate, obtuse, thickened, rigid, olive green to purplish red floral bracts
