Found in Guatemala at elevations of 1200 to 1400 meters as a large sized, cool growing epiphyte with wide, succulent, ovate-oblong pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, erect becoming pendent, widely oblong, acute, basally conduplicate leaves that blooms on an axillary, to 24" [60 cm] long, alternate, racemose, several flowered inflorescence with semiglobose, short, ovate, aristate floral bracts.
