Flower Size 1.6" [4 cm]
Found from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago, Surinam, Fr Guiana, Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia and northern Brazil in open meadows at elevations of 250 to 1320 meters as a miniature to small sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with thick, glabrous roots giving rise to a slender stem with several, loose, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, acuminate bracts and carrying few fugaceous leaves that blooms in the later spring on an erect, cylindrical, 2.4" [6 cm] long, congested, many flowered inflorescence enveloped by various, tubular, acuminate bracts.
